One of the main style elements in the van is light. I will have indirect lighting and wall washing with light in many places. Not all are full colour though. It is going to be quite effective and each piece of light strip can be controlled through the central system and some also with local controls.
Here a few images how I put the lights together.
Mounting clips are attached to the underside of the fascia.
The light track extrusion snaps into the mounting clips.
The RGB light strip is self adhesive and attached to the extrusion.
Connectors are attached to connect pieces together.
The diffuser is clicked into the track. I simply do not like naked LED lights. I find them ugly and they have insufficient spread of light. The small diffuser still does not completely eliminate the visibility of the individual LED but in case of this indirect lighting it does not matter that much since the track is not visible from above. Where the diffuser might be visible I use larger tracks with more distance between LED and diffuser and the individual LED becomes less obvious and light spreads better. I also use only the warm white or colour. The blueish LEDs above 4500 K do not give a pleasant light.
Below is a finished short track and the next image shows the long track at the front of the bed box.
The images below illustrate how the short track was done. Cut a piece of strip light at the designated cut points. Use the proper RGB connectors for easy contact.
One problem is that the joiners are not very solid and secure. All connections need to be secured with heat shrink, otherwise they come apart easy.
And here is the finished light. This is just a test with the front light. The other sides of the bed box are also lit when required. These lights are switched through motion sensors and the preselected mode defines the colour.
The lights can be dimmed and through the central system each light can be controlled or adjusted to a pre defined profile. Same applies to the wall lights at the ceiling. All lights are controlled through a DMX bus. Full RGB and brightness control.
