Body Work

By |February 9th, 2016|BODY BUILD, BUILD|0 Comments

It is almost a week since I posted the last time. Not that I have not done anything, but I was again busy with other things. I moved servers again with a bunch of domains and sites including this because the new host I had was also unreliable, real pain. Finally I found a host that seem to work better, however I am still having a couple of issues with automated WordPress backup.

The work on the van was primarily outside. The vinyl around the bottom, alu trim on the edges, baggage doors, fitted the main entry door and a […]

Wardrobe Finished

By |February 2nd, 2016|BUILD, INTERIOR BUILD|0 Comments

The last days I have been working on the bedroom wardrobe.

Before I started with the frame and doors I wall papered the inside with a vinyl wall paper. This makes it easy to keep clean and looks a bit neater than the raw fibre glass. I painted the wall with bonding primer to make the paper stick a bit better, however a few areas did not hold too well because I was a bit greedy with the glue. Anyway this was one of the reasons I started wall papering the interior of the wardrobe to see how it would work […]

Body Protection

By |February 2nd, 2016|BODY BUILD, BUILD|0 Comments

I have not posted for a few days. Lots of things to do including moving this and other websites to a new host server. Had enough of email problems with the old host, just not reliable enough, especially when you host sites for businesses relying on email for 99.9% of transactions.

Have installed some more vinyl film to the lower part of the outer body. It is a bit awkward to put on and I still have a few small blisters left, but not too bad, so I do not bother to get them all out at this stage, it […]

Slide Out Mechanism

By |January 26th, 2016|BODY BUILD|0 Comments

I had quite a bit of trouble with the slide-out mechanism on several levels. Here is a summary of my findings and what I did or going to do about it.

As described in previous posts my slide-out box is made differently than the average Lippert (Schwinteck) slide-out. All slide-outs are made of a box and then a frame is put around the outside and the inside of the box to cover the mechanisms and the gaps as well as sealing the wall in both positions. The frame on the outside is usually 100mm wide and is connected to the […]

Rear Deck – Thoughts

By |March 28th, 2015|CHASSIS BUILD|0 Comments

We had a discussion about the rear deck again and have decided that we want the deck but not the sky-deck from Melbourne for several reasons. One is price of course. 15k is over the top, but more importantly it has a design problem.
After looking closely and making a few calculations, and also some statements from the conversation on the phone made me sceptical. I was told that the sky-deck does not like a twisting body at all and that internal stiffening is important.
This made me think. The fact that the sky deck has only the support from the roof end […]
